Sometimes it can be difficult to understand where an email comes from. Horizon Mail aliases can resolve this, but what if you want to use one address for multiple people?
Instead of creating a new address for each person, you can instead append the +
symbol to your address prefix.
Let's say Bob wants to receive email from Alice from [email protected]
, but he also shares this email with his other friends, Jacob, John and Julia.
For each person, Bob can modify the email he sends to his friends by appending their names to his prefix.
All of these emails, while they may look slightly different, still forward to [email protected]
. However, the main difference is that Bob will see the individual prefixes in his inbox and immediately know who is sending him emails from his friend group.
Plus Sign Compartmentalization is NOT a replacement for aliases! For anonymity and privacy, it is still recommended to generate or create new aliases for services and recipients that you may not trust with your true email address.
Below is an example of what Bob would see. He would see bob+<friendname>@hrzn.email
in the To header.
You've learned how to use plus sign compartmentalization!
